“We had several roof tiles that were sliding down plus around 15 tiles that were broken and needed to be replaced. I got 2 estimates from “A” rated Roofing companies. One company wanted $855 just to set foot on our roof PLUS another $700 to replace 10 tiles only – so a total of over $1,500 to replace broken tiles not counting fixing slipping tiles or anything else.
With J L Ray CO, it was $139 for the roof tune-up plus $300 to replace 15 tiles and to clean & blow all the gutters around the entire house.
The roof tune up included fixing 11 tiles that had slipped, re-sealing roof vents, spray-painting all flashings, eye-brow air vents and breather tube-vents that stick out the roof.
Dan is very professional, easy to work with and answered all of my questions in a timely manner with a great positive attitude.
I cannot say enough good things about Dan, the crew who performed the roof tune-up, and of the company J L Ray CO. The other “A” rated company wanted over $1,500 for less work. For $439 ( $1,100 less ), J L Ray CO Roofing did a lot more work and left the roof looking line new. I have attached a picture.
Great company, great service and best of all GREAT PRICES! I am so content with the outcome that I am more than happy to be used as a reference. Highly recommend J L Ray CO Roofing.”

“I purchased the Angie’s List Big Deal for $99.00. Forty eight hours later I got a call from Dan from J L Ray Co to schedule the appointment. He was going to be in the area on the next day and that was when we made the appointment. He was running late but called me to let me know when he would be arriving. When he arrived I told him that I thought there was a leak in the roof that was causing the paint on the ceiling in a corner of my family room to bubble.
He went on the roof and took pictures of what he thought was causing it. It turned out that the flashing on one of the pipes sticking out of the roof was not caulked and was most likely the cause of the leak. He then proceeded to caulk all the pipes. He said that this service was included in the Big Deal. He was very personable and didn’t pressure me to buy any additional services. I would definitely consider using his company again.“

“Our project manager was Dan. We purchased this deal on A-list, thinking that the roof would be a bit of a challenge to repair ourselves on a two story house. Dan contacted us to schedule his initial visit and inspection. While there for the initial visit, he went ahead and did as much repair as he could on the spot. He then scheduled an appointment for completion of additional work.
Here’s what I liked:
Dan took photos of the roof work he did and of the additional items that he thought should be addressed. He emailed me the photos along with an itemized list of costs for each additional repair. There were no bundles, gimmicks or attempts to up-sell me. I didn’t choose to have everything on the list completed, but Dan still came out and performed the repairs that I requested in a professional manner.
I would definitely recommend this company to a friend or family member who needs roof issues addressed.”

“The timing of this “Big Deal” was perfect for us as our home is 2 miles from the epicenter of the recent earthquake in North Orange County. We lost some tiles and it appeared others had cracked or slipped. In addition, we were leaving the following week for an extended vacation and it was important that the work be taken care of soonest.
I asked to be contacted when the workers were on the way as I wanted to be here while they worked (although that was neither necessary or required). I received a phone call alerting me of their arrival time and they showed up soon afterwards. They had all the material needed for the job and were quite experienced at such work. I later found that the senior of the workers had been a company employee for over 20 years.
Although the work was scheduled for about 2 hours, they worked for at least 3. This was evidently due to finding additional things in need of attention and their desire to do a thorough and professional job.
They left our home after having cleaned up and hauled away the broken tiles. The men were polite, clean, and professional. I was e-mailed the agreed upon invoice later in the day and was very happy to pay it.
I clearly have no intention of climbing on my roof and would have difficulty evaluating such work anyway. However, everything seems in order, and all the tiles seem to be in place and all else we agreed to seems to have been well managed. I was very pleased with the entire arrangement and would not hesitate to recommend the company to friends and neighbors.”

“Our old roof deck was leaking, and had been redone twice over the last 20 years. We wanted a new waterproof deck system that would hold up beyond the next 20+ years. J L Ray Co was recommended to us by a friend. Jeff Ray was prompt to visit and review the deck situation and provide an estimate. We talked to two other providers, but neither seemed to have the knowledge and capability that Jeff offered. He was also local and in business for a long time. There was never a “hard-sell” approach.
The explanation of the waterproof system, the variety of faux-tile finishes, and estimate were provided promptly. Work was initiated within a week of the estimate, and finished on schedule within two weeks. The employees were excellent, non-obtrusive, and hard workers. The project area was always cleaned and all trash was removed promptly. They showed up on time and worked until the particular daily job segments were finished, even if it extended beyond routine hours.
The faux-tile finish looks like real tile. Billy, the expert in charge of the finish, was both knowledgeable and artistic. The results were astonishing.
We were extremely pleased with the quality of the installation and the appearance of the results.”

“I bought a roof inspection and sealing deal from J.L. Ray Company on Friday. The following Monday, I received an email indicating I would be contacted later that day by Project Consultant, Daniel Mallett. Dan called that afternoon and set up an appointment for the following day.
Dan arrived promptly for the appointment, and was polite and professional throughout. He reviewed some ceiling water stains inside, then proceeded to check the roof. In a half-hour, he showed me pictures and a video he had taken of potential problem areas on the roof. He also found a vent which had been improperly installed. He answered all my questions and explained the seriousness of each of the problems. Since the roof is 15 years old, I asked if he would include an estimate for the cost of complete re-roofing in his final report. He then returned to the roof to complete the inspection and to seal potential openings for water damage.
On Friday of the same week, Daniel emailed me his final report (including pictures) and followed-up with a phone call, which allowed me to ask a few more questions.
Daniel is a fine representative for his company. Based upon my interaction with him, I certainly would recommend J.L. Ray Company and use them again. They seem to be top-notch.”
